CELEBRATING BREASTFEEDING WEEK!

Happy Monday to y'all!

I'm sorry I should have mentioned this earlier...August 1 marked the beginning of World Breastfeeding Week. Today is the fourth day and a lot is being said about Breastfeeding. Research has shown that there are a lot of benefits attached to breast feeding. Read here

The joys of motherhood cannot be quantified, not to mention the act of breastfeeding. There is this innate feeling that comes with it...the fact that you are holding your baby and feeding him or her and his or her life depends on that milk which you produce!

So much have been said about this breastmilk, I don't know where to begin. If you are a lay person and worse still a beginner, you will hear things like, "Pour the first milk from your breast away, it's the dirty one!"

Another area of breastfeeding most mothers struggle with, is the duration. People really want to know how long a child can be breastfed. A lot of factors affect duration, not to mention frequency. A working class mother such as a banker, medical doctor in this part of my world cannot breastfeed exclusively for 6 months..not sure how she intends to pull that off! Anyway, apart from the duration of the exclusive breastfeeding, some mothers want to know when a child can be yanked off the 'boobies'. If truth be told, this matter is a subjective one...because I find it totally distasteful watching a fully developed child who walks, talks and even jumps, running to his mummy's side standing and sucking, and I am talking about say a 2 to 3 yr old! If any mum can do a complete year...hmmm, not bad. In fact, commendable. *Me sha, I no fit*

A lot of issues have been associated with breastfeeding...these my ears have heard all sorts! Before the breastfeeding week ends, I hope to address quite a few of these issues. Sincerely, I will try to add videos to the blog based on high demands. People generally want to hear other people's views on stuff.

What can I say? Just stick around!

HAPPY NEW MONTH PEEPS!

Please do forgive my manners...

Wishing you guys a splendid new month! I just love new months! In fact, new everything...

I love the feeling I get from new months: I get psyched to start afresh, start a new timetable, start a new life, clean my closet, put my kids in the 'laundry' *hehehe*

Even though I hate the month of August, maybe because of names like Augustus, Augustine, Augustina! I just dunno, but I am hopeful, because it is a NEW MONTH!

August's 2 flowers are 'sword lily' and 'poppy'. Sword lily for remembrance, calm, integrity and infatuation. Red poppy for pleasure, the white one for consolation and the yellow for wealth and success.

Therefore, I am wishing all my fans a month of calm, pleasure, wealth and success. Please don't forget to comeback and say your 'thank you' for all I have wished you. *wink wink*

Stay blessed.

"WOMEN SHOULD WORK BECAUSE THEY WANT TO AND NOT BECAUSE THEY NEED TO!"

How many of you agree with this statement?

This article is not meant to cause any form of conflict in the home or demean the role of husbands in the home. What I saw yesterday just got me thinking, that's all.

Driving home from work, I saw a heavily pregnant ready-to-drop woman hawking a massively large tray of 'Agege' bread. This is a woman who is managing to carry the pregnancy talk less of the load on her head! Something similar to the pix below...
Imagine the distance she had to walk to sell bread of how much under the harsh weather. I just thought it's only a wicked and lazy man who would put his wife out in that condition so as to bring home the daily bread. And this type of man is probably doing something similar to the pix below...
or worse still playing 'Baba Ijebu'! But you can tell by the determination on her face, nothing was going to stop her from providing for her unborn child or the little ones at home.

I dunno, but I see things differently...a woman should be seen as a gift from God to men and to the world. Therefore, she should be handled with care.

I see her as a manager of the home, under the oversight of her husband. Her primary role, as far as I am concerned, should revolve around the daily care of children, meal preparation and keeping the house in order. Getting a job should be optional, whereas for her husband, it is mandatory.

Women should..."get married, bear children, keep house". (1 Timothy 5:14)

These days, I seem to get more and more confused as to what the role of a woman is in marriage. Roles seem to be reversing in my eyes! Who should stay at home? Who should pay most of the bills? Who looks after the kids, not to mention the home front? (Banker wives, please take note) Who does house work? Who assists who? Who calls the shots at home? Who is the decision maker?
These are some of the questions that go through my head!

#justwondering

Have a blessed day! Ehen...who is the husband and who plays wife? *sticking my tongue out*
